On December 15, 2018, Ret. Air Force Colonel James “Jay” Mannion, (87) died peacefully surrounded by his loving family in his Bow, NH home. James was born on November 4, 1931 in Concord, NH, to James and Arlene Mannion. He was a graduate of Saint John’s High School. James pursued his dream of becoming a fighter pilot and joined the United States Air Force after graduating Dartmouth College. James served his country for nearly 30 years. His career included combat tours in Vietnam. He retired in 1982 at Langley Air Force Base, Hampton Virginia. James is survived by his wife Nadeane Mannion, sons, Michael and Jeffrey Mannion, daughter Lynn Hornsby and husband Roger, Michelle Novakoski and husband John, his four granddaughters, Courtney Mannion, Brooke, Bailey and Brenna Novakoski.
James will be interred at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH in the spring of 2019.Memorial donations may be made to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurses Association (CRVNA), 28 Pillsbury Street, Concord NH 03301 or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
