Obituary

Evangeline “Vange” M. Wilson, 91, of Weare, passed away peacefully at Catholic Medical Center on December 28, 2017, surrounded by family. Born in Manchester, NH, on November 13, 1926, she was the daughter of Loren and Julia (Ziarko) Powers. Vange was raised in Weare, NH, graduated from Weare High School, Class of 1944, and resided in Weare for her entire life. She worked for over 40 years as an underwriter for New Hampshire Insurance Company, later AIG, in Manchester.
Vange had many hobbies. She was an avid reader and writer and also enjoyed watching her soap operas. She was the green thumb of the family with a passion for gardening. She had a talent for knitting and crocheting, which she shared with family and friends in the form of special Christmas ornaments every year. Most importantly, she enjoyed being in the company of her family and celebrating special occasions. The celebrations were made complete with her famous iced tea and will forever live on in the thousands of photographs she has left us as cherished memories, through her eyes.
Vange was predeceased by her loving husband, Rodman Wilson, her first and only love, with whom she shared 72 years of marriage. Beloved mother of two daughters, Susan (Wilson Hawkes) Cote and her husband Donald Cote of New Boston, and Rodalyn (Wilson) Knox and her husband John Knox of Weare. Cherished grandmother “Grammy” to Brian Knox, Shawn Hawkes and his wife Denise, Brandon Hawkes and his wife Melissa, Dan Knox and his wife Kristina, and Nicole Rae and her husband Brian. Great-Grandmother to Alyssa, Kendra, and Fallon Hawkes, Ryan and Joel Hawkes, Amelie Knox, and Colby and Abigail Rae. She is further survived by her brother Loren Powers and his wife Diana, along with her niece Cathy (Powers) Willey and nephew Michael Powers.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 2, from 5-8 PM at French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 South Mast Street, Goffstown, NH. Funeral services will be Wednesday 10:00 AM in the funeral home. A private burial service for the family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Evangeline’s name to a Veterans charity of your choice.
