Gordon Perry Jackson, 97, died February 6, 2018 at CMC Hospital in Manchester from heart complications. He resided at the Villager in Goffstown, NH.
He is survived by his son, Stephen A. Jackson and his wife Rosemarie of Melrose, Massachusetts, and daughter, Marsha E. Wilkes and her husband William of Edison, New Jersey. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Kristi Braine (Chris), William Wilkes (Ingrid), Alexandra Rosso (Anthony) and Victoria Perault (Charles) and six great grandchildren, Taryn, Emma, Declan Braine, Billy Wilkes, Josephine Rosso, and Jackson Rosso. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Downs, and his loving companion Carol Richard. Gordon was predeceased by his brother Robert.
He was born in Somerville to John and Mildred (Perry) Jackson. He was married to his high school sweet heart, Phyllis Small, for nearly 64 years until her death in 2006.
Gordon was a 62 year resident of Goffstown. He worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for many years before establishing his own insurance agency in town. Gordon was an active member of his community. He served as President of the New Hampshire Heart Association and President of the Manchester Chorale Society. He enjoyed many years of helping voters at election time and was well known in Goffstown for his gregarious personality. Gordon was an avid golfer and bowler, and a member of the Dunbarton Congregational Church. A veteran of World War II, Gordon served with distinction as a Supply Sergeant in the Marines from 1942 to 1946 in the South Pacific, and was awarded a Bronze Star for his deployment on Okinawa. He also served in campaigns at Peleliu and Cape Gloucester.
Calling Hours will be held at the French and Rising Funeral Home in Goffstown on Saturday, February 10th from 10am to 11am with a Funeral Service beginning at 11.
