Donald W. Gendron 79, died November 15, 2018. He was born August 2, 1939 in Exeter, NH the son of Joseph William and Beatrice Bertha (Maryea) Gendron. A graduate of Bentley College in Waltham, Mass., Don's working career included stints in Germany, Bangladesh, Egypt and Washington, DC. Closer to home, he was the chief financial officer for the NH Division of Public Health and appointed the first Deputy Commissioner of Safety for the State of NH. Don became certified as a financial planner, established his own financial service and tax preparation practice and established an investment securities brokerage firm. Under advice from his wife to "slow down", Don sold the practices and became licensed as a real estate agent working for the Jo Burnham .Real Estate agency where he worked for many years until his retirement in 2013. In the realm of public service, he was elected to the Goffstown Budget Committee and served as a voluntary at the Goffstown polls. Don planted the initial financial seed to establish a matching endowment fund for the Goffstown Main Street Program. He was a member of the Goffstown Rotary Club serving as the club secretary. It was as a member of that group that he initiated the Club's flea market fundraiser programs. Don was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Carla Edith Gendron and two brothers George and Richard. He is survived by his sister Theresa and several nieces and nephews. At his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Any who share his love and care for animals are invited to make donations in his memory to the Animal Rescue League of Bedford, NH.
